I’m far from the perfect writer. However, I’ve learned the hard way that I’m not done editing when I think I’m done. It’s not enough to just gloss over a page you wrote and then submit it.
You have to read it aloud to yourself up to four times. I sometimes read the document over again until I catch no more mistakes when I’m done repeating the text to myself.
It also helps to have someone else you trust proofread for you. When I have the luxury of having someone else edit my work, it takes a bit of stress off me. However, I still want to make their jobs easy, too.
Therefore, I edit as many times as I think it takes. You can’t get impatient when writing if you want to submit quality work.
